|
Medium: original etching. This is an uncommonly fine impression on laid paper, rich and dark with good plate tone, which brings out the atmosphere of Whistler's composition better than most later impressions. Executed in 1879; catalogue reference: Kennedy 173. Plate size: 3 7/8 x 2 5/8 inches (100 x 66mm). Not signed. A very affordable original Whistler!
Condition: this piece has been laid down (glued down onto a stiff card) by an earlier owner. There is rippling / creasing to the paper and appears to be some separation along the bottom platemark.
