Georges Rouault Art Prints

Georges Henri Rouault (1871-1958) was a Paris-born artist best known for his painting, printmaking, and drafting. Apprenticed at the age of 14 as a glass painter, which he continued for the next five years, and some believe that this early training was responsible for his future painting style consisting often of heavy black lines and vivid, glowing colors, much in the style of leaded glass. Georges Rouault became one of the best known modern artists to treat religious subjects, focusing on the New Testament and the life and Passion of Christ.

Meeting Henri Matisse early on, Rouault was introduced to Fauvism, of which Matisse is considered to have been the leader. He later moved on to Expressionism. He painted throughout his life, starting in 1907 with a series interpreted to have been critical of the social and moral climate of the time. Our Georges Rouault art selections include many pochoir works, a selection of original Rouault lithographs, and other Rouault prints. We proudly offer many beautiful Rouault prints for sale at attractive prices.
