Josef Albers Artwork

German-born American artist Josef Albers (1888 – 1976) not only created abstract pieces of art that have wide influence, but also expanded the graphic design program at Yale. His development of art education even succeeds his death through the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, which aims to further “the revelation and evocation of vision through art.” European influences help create these colorful, abstract pieces. Josef Albers’ art was quite popular, especially his painting series, Homage to the Square.
