Medium: original lithograph in brown ink. Catalogue reference: Delteil 97 ii/ii. This impression was printed in Paris by Bertauts on wove paper and published in 1865 by Gazette des Beaux-Arts (the only published edition). The image measures 6 1/4 x 8 3/4 inches (159 x 222 mm) and the full sheet is 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches (183 x 265 mm). This beautiful and much sought-after lithograph was executed by Delacroix in 1833, and the lithographic stone was bought by Gazette des Beaux-Arts in 1864 from the heirs of Delacroix, after the artist's death in 1863. Plate-signed by Eugene Delacroix, not hand-signed.
