Description

This is a three-dimensional paper construction mounted onto a double-page photolithograph; when the folded sheet is opened the construction pops up. Created by Andy Warhol and published in 1967 by Black Star for Andy Warhol's Index Book, an absurd and revolutionary volume designed as "a children's book for hipsters". Size: 10 3/4 x 16 3/4 x 9 inches (275 x 425 x 220 mm). A classic work of Pop Art from Warhol's Factory period, at the height of the New York psychedelic scene. This is a complicated piece and the photos show different views (photographed against a white background). Not signed.

Condition: there are three rows of pop-ups (the large castle in back and two smaller rows of pop-ups in front). All three sections are intact without damage but may need a little help to remain standing vertically. There is minor creasing to the bottom support sheet.
