Medium: original etching. Executed in 1865; Catalogue reference: Schneiderman 94 vii/vii. This fanciful and magnificent etching depicts the headquarters of the Admiralty in Paris, under attack by a legion of flying creatures. Printed by Delâtre. Plate size: 6 5/8 x 5 1/2 inches (168 x 140 mm); sheet size: 10 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches (272 x 218mm).
This impression is on cream laid paper with good margins. In good condition, with two spots of foxing on the back (not affecting the front of the sheet). Signed in the plate with Charles Meryon's monogram (not hand-signed). It is said that Meryon became mentally unhinged later in life, going so far as to publicly claim that his friend and fellow artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden was not the original author of his own (Haden's) etchings!

Medium: original etching. The complete title is "Passerelle du Pont au Change apres l'incendie de 1621". Catalogue reference: Delteil/Wright 50. This composition shows the footbridge which temporarily replaced the Exchange Bridge in Paris after the fire of 1621. This impression on chine-collé paper was printed in Paris by Chardon Wittmann and published in 1896 by Les Chefs d'Oeuvre. Image size: 3 3/4 x 7 7/8 inches (95 x 200mm). Signed in the plate (not by hand).
Condition: there is foxing to the outer margins of the wove paper support sheet but the etched image is clean and bright.
