Medium: original etching. This impression was printed in 1894 for Gustave Geffroy's "La Vie Artistique". The catalogue reference is Delteil 8. This is the third etched variation of "Pinning the Hat", one of the best known Renoir etchings and one of his most engaging compositions. The young ladies are Julie Manet (Berthe Morisot's daughter and Edouard Manet's niece) and her cousin Jeanne. Printed on laid paper, the plate size is 4 1/2 x 3 1/8 inches (117 x 81 mm). Signed in the plate, not by hand.
