Medium: original etching and drypoint. Also called "Jeunes filles fleurissant leurs chapeaux". This pair of etchings was printed on japon paper -- one impression in black and the other in sanguine -- for the deluxe edition of 150 of "Renoir et ses amis" published in 1921 by Henri Floury. The catalogue reference is Delteil 8.

This is the third etched variation of "Pinning the Hat", one of the best known Renoir etchings and one of his most engaging compositions. The young ladies are Julie Manet (Berthe Morisot's daughter and Edouard Manet's niece) and her cousin Jeanne. The plate size is 4 3/4 x 3 1/4 inches (118 x 85 mm). Signed in the plate, not by hand.

Condition: there is foxing and creasing to the paper.
